About Coral Reef Academy

Coral Reef Academy (CRA), established in 2018 in Christiansted, St. Croix, is the only institution dedicated to providing high-quality, specialized education for students with autism and developmental disabilities in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Academy was founded by Dr. Lindsy Wagner, CEO of Island Therapy Solutions, in response to the significant need for individualized, evidence-based educational services within the territory.

CRA offers a comprehensive, student-centered program that integrates structured teaching approaches and therapeutic supports tailored to each student’s developmental profile. Its educational philosophy is rooted in promoting independence, academic achievement, and social-emotional growth, enabling students to reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

In 2024, CRA expanded its reach by opening a second campus in St. Thomas. This new location serves students in grades K–4 with autism and represents a significant milestone in CRA’s mission to make specialized education more accessible across the Virgin Islands. That same year, the Academy introduced a college preparatory classroom using a project-based learning model. This program is designed to equip students with the critical thinking, communication, and practical skills required for post-secondary education and future career success.

Since receiving its 501(c)(3) nonprofit designation in April 2019, Coral Reef Academy has remained steadfast in its commitment to advancing the educational landscape for neurodivergent learners. Through strategic growth, community partnerships, and an unwavering dedication to excellence, CRA continues to serve as a beacon of innovation and advocacy in special education throughout the Virgin Islands.
